What Is 3D/4D Ultrasound?
To compliment prenatal ultrasound service 2D, Urgent Care Aruba (UCA) offers 3D/4D ultrasound service for expecting mothers wanting to view their unborn babies with the use of the latest technology on the island. The facility has obtained a new ultrasound equipment with advanced technology to provide top quality service to our patients. An ultrasound system that delivers truly exceptional care – confidently and efficiently – every time.
The 3D ultrasounds create a three-dimensional image of your baby, while 4D ultrasounds create a live video effect, like a movie — you can watch your baby smile or yawn.
The 3D ultrasound there is an extra depth and color added to the 2D cross-section. 3D means three-dimensional and shows you 3 dimensions: length, width, and depth. With a 3D ultrasound you look around the child and you only look at the outside of your child.
The 4D ultrasound you see moving 3D color images. A 4D ultrasound, also called a “live 3D” ultrasound. The movement of the baby during the ultrasound is the 4th dimension. With a 4D ultrasound you see the child alternately in 2D black-white images and in moving 3D-colored images.
Studies suggest that 3D and 4D ultrasounds are safe. Plus, the images can help doctors spot a problem with your baby and make it easier for them to explain it to you.
